“ Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday on Sunday at noon. Parking here is usually bad but when we arrived, there were plenty of spaces. The place is a typical casual setting. Food was pretty good. Fried tofu was crispy and piping hot. Chicken wings were very good. Pork belly was very tender. All other dishes we had were delicious. At the end of the meal, our server brought is cut up orange and even made sweet buns for the birthday celebrant. Our server was very good, too. He was very attentive and very patient. Will definitely come here again. ”

“ Been craving Cantonese food and was recommended this spot so had to check them out. We came on a Saturday for lunch and nearly every table was taken. It was a REALLY hot weekend and sadly it was hot in the restaurant. There were a few fans scattered around but they didn't keep the place cool. We sat at the tables next to the partitions separating the guest tables and worker area. For some reason it smelled like sewage on and off there :( We ordered 3 dishes between two people. Service was ok. They didn't check on us once. We also ordered a bowl of rice and it never came. They kept it on the receipt when our bill came lol but they removed it when we told them. Beef Chow Fun (3.5/5): wasn't as greasy as most other places so the noodles were on the drier side. Overall it was good but I've had better Eggplant and minced meat with spicy sauce (5/5): delicious egg plant dish! Would definitely order this again. It wasn't too spicy tho. Roast pork belly (4/5): love a good crispy roast pork belly and this was good! There were a few pieces where the fat was just too much HK style roast duck (4/5): flavor was good and the meat was cooked nicely. but sadly a few pieces didn't have much meat on it. It was just the skin, bones, and a sliver of meat lol Overall food was tasty and we'd come back to try other dishes. ”

“ This was my first time at Taste of Hong Kong. In terms of service, the staff were very friendly and polite. They could speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and English (and possibly more but I didn't hear any other languages when I was there). Our food came out quickly, within ten minutes of ordering. We were a group of five. We ordered six dishes, which was the perfect amount of food. We were all satisfied and did not have any leftovers. Portions sizes were good. We ordered seafood and tofu soup, tofu and minced pork with spicy sauce, Singapore style noodles, green beans with minced pork, pork chops, and French style filet steak. The tofu was the favorite of the table. Crispy on the outside, silky and soft on the inside. I didn't think it was spicy at all but to be fair, I do have a relatively high spice tolerance. The pork chops were the second favorite of the table. They were freshly fried and also crispy; the chilis gave a good kick. I was expecting the French style filet beef to be similar to Vietnamese shaking beef (Bo luc lac) but it was seasoned very differently and tasted strongly of basil. It was still good but I personally prefer bo luc lac. The Singapore style noodles were okay, in my opinion. They tasted mostly of curry powder and did not really impress me. Overall my friends and I have a good time and enjoyed the food. If I went back again, I would definitely order the tofu and pork chops again. ”

“ We came here for a birthday celebration. The food is authorized Hong Kong style. Two dishes which I like most are crab and lobster. The servers are super friendly too. We will come back for sure! One of the best Chinese restaurants in San Diego! ”

“ Absolutely loved everything about this restaurant! It is clean, spacious, and bright! They offer an extensive menu that can satisfy your every craving! We ordered 1) roasted Hong Kong style duck 2) Hong Kong style crispy noodles 3) garlicky pea sprouts. Every single dish was impeccable, super tasty, and flavorful. The duck was one of the best I've ever had. The skin was crispy and the meat was moist and it was an explosion of flavor! The crispy noodles were the perfect texture and topped with fresh seafood, mushrooms, gai lan. The green pea sprouts were simple yet absolutely delicious. The staff were all helpful and kind and gave great suggestions. They have two separate private dining areas that seat 8-12 people for small family gatherings or parties. Prices were very fair considering the quality of food you are getting. Free parking in their lot! ”

“ Truly good authentic and delicious. The staff speaks Cantonese so I know the chefs are true to the authentic Hong Kong style. Not many place also have pea pod leaves which are one of the best greens in my opinion!! Their green onion ginger sauce that normally is served with chicken is beyond fresh tasting and delicious. I had to keep asking for more dipping sauce. We got black pepper beef and it was so tender. The Singapore noodles came with shrimp and bbq pork, it was a perfect hint of spice and a big portion! This will be my go to spot! Only downfall is that the dishes are quite pricey, but so many good options on the menu it was almost so hard to decide. ”

“ We came here to celebrate my friend's birthday and were very pleased with the restaurant's hospitality. The food is better than other Chinese restaurants I've been to in SD--simple yet flavorful and delicious. We ordered BBQ pork, crispy pork, noodles in XO sauce, and two types of veggie dishes which were all delicious. After finishing our meal, my friends brought out a cake to celebrate the birthday. The owners were so kind and friendly that they joined our table for the celebration and even treated us to complimentary beer, wine and desserts. It was definitely a night to remember and we love it. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice--not overcrowded and loud like many other restaurants. Instead, it had an upscale and intimate environment. Thank you, Taste of Hong Kong. “ Since moving from Chicago, it's been challenging to find good Chinese food. Chicago Chinese food just hits different. However, I recently discovered Taste of Hong Kong and decided to give it a try because of their traditional Hong Kong-style dishes. The food was great, although the portions were on the smaller side. Here's what I tried: - Salted Egg Yolk Wings. These were uniquely delicious, and I definitely encourage people to try them. - Honey Walnut Shrimp. Cooked well and very tasty. - Cantonese Style Pan Fried Noodles: These tasted great and were a highlight of the meal. The service was decently friendly, which made for a pleasant dining experience. I'll definitely be back! ”
